Roots band delivers reggae
With enthusiastic fans cross the globe, The Uprising Roots are bringing their unique brand of reggae music to the masses.
Close-knit Rastafarian band the Uprising Roots is focused on one thing: bringing authentic reggae music to hungry fans around the world. The band is currently preparing to release its debut album in August, which promises to deliver the sounds and feel of traditional reggae. “The name of the album is Skyfiya, referring to the brightest light,” shares lead vocalist and drummer Rashawn McAnuff, popularly known as Kush. “People can expect the greatest positive upliftment. That’s the message we are sending: that no matter what happens there is always hope and a brighter day.”
Members of the band include Rashawn “Kush” McAnuff, Ruel “Pot a Rice” Ashburn, Lloyd “Akinsanya” Palmer, Jeffry “Jeffrys” Graham and Joseph “Juniour” Sutherland. From their East Kingston studio, they have released three singles, which have been enjoying signi cant success in the Caribbean, Europe and North America. Songs such as Brightest Light, Sky ya and Know Yourself have helped to de ne the band, while simultaneously thrilling fans.
